Covid-19 booster vaccinations

We are not starting to invite eligible patients for their covid booster vacciantions.

Who can get a COVID-19 booster vaccine
Booster vaccine doses will be offered to those people most at risk from COVID-19 who have already had 2 doses of a vaccine.

This includes:
* people aged 50 and over
* people who live and work in care homes
* frontline health and social care workers
* people aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19
carers aged 16 and over
* people aged 16 and over who live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
* People who are pregnant and in 1 of the eligible groups can also get a booster dose.

More information can be found on the NHS website here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-booster-vaccine/

The Practice is also being asked to invite those patients eligible for a THIRD primary dose, not a booster

Please wait for the practice to contact you, to invite you to attend for your covid booster or third vaccination.

Alternatively, those eligible for their booster and who have received a letter from the NHS asking them to book their vaccination can do so by contacting 119 or by booking online via the national booking service here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-booster-vaccine/

Face masks mandatory when attending the Practice

With immediate effect, anyone who attends the practice will be asked to wear a face mask or face covering to prevent the spread of Covid-19, unless you meet the exemption criteria set by the government as detailed in the link below:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers#exemptions-face-coverings

  • Please remember to bring a face covering or mask for your appointment; it can be very simple, like a scarf or bandana.  It needs to fit well and cover your mouth and nose.
  • You can make your own face covering by following this guidance ⇒

If you do not have a mask or face covering, you will be supplied one by the surgery.

Please also attend alone where possible in order to maintain social distancing rules and do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.

IS IT COVID?

Sometimes it can be tricky to know if your symptoms are just a typical winter cough or the start of the symptoms of COVID-19. If you have any of the symptoms of coronavirus, you and your family should isolate, and the person with symptoms should apply for a test. If you don’t have symptoms, you should not apply for a test. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-09-17/coronavirus-how-to-spot-the-difference-between-a-cold-and-covid-19-symptoms

Loss of taste and smell, having a fever and a cough are all symptoms of coronavirus. If you have any of these symptoms, you should follow the guidance set out here: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
