Important Safety Update: Parking & The Crossing on Flixton Road Medical Centre

Posted on:

We are writing to you about a critical safety issue at the pedestrian crossing directly outside our practice on Flixton Road.

Earlier this year, a local primary school pupil was hit by a car while using this crossing. Thankfully, they were only shaken, not seriously hurt. The incident was caused by a car parked across the crossing itself, obstructing the view for both the driver and the child.

Trafford Council installed bollards to prevent parking on the crossing, but cars are now parking immediately to the side, which still dangerously obstructs the view of oncoming traffic, especially for children.

A concerned resident has presented evidence to Trafford Council demonstrating how current parking creates a blind spot for anyone using the crossing. As a result, the council is planning to install additional bollards in the adjacent space to prevent all dangerous parking and ensure a clear, safe line of sight. This measure could take up to 8 weeks to implement.

We are asking for your help. While these bollards are being arranged, please be a considerate parker. Never park on or immediately next to the crossing. Your cooperation is essential to keep our local children and community safe.
