Baby Loss Bereavement Support Sessions

Have you recently experienced baby loss or miscarriage? You’re not alone.

An estimated 250,000 pregnancies end in miscarriage every year in the UK, affecting approximately 1 in 5 women. In England alone, around 8 babies a day are stillborn.

These statistics only tell part of the story: for parents of both genders and of any age, the loss of an infant brings overwhelming feelings of disbelief, shock and deep grief. Behind the numbers are lives impacted for life by the unimaginable.

Despite its prevalence in society, baby loss remains a taboo topic shrouded in secrecy and shame in many circles. Here at CAHN, we are determined to change the current state of affairs.

The figures bear out an even greater crisis when it comes to baby loss within the Black community: the infant mortality rate is higher in Black children, and mothers living in the most deprived areas of the country (disproportionately Black and other minoritised women) are more likely to suffer the loss of their baby in the perinatal period.

In December, our specialist counselling team began free online sessions to support members of our community who are recovering from the loss of a baby or child. Black-led and culturally sensitive, these meetings include grief counselling, the opportunity to be part of support groups and to benefit from tailor-made resources.

It’s time to come out of the shadows and into the light. It’s not too late to register and reserve your place: https://portal.cahn.org.uk/babylossbereavementsupport

The next session will take place on Thursday 23rd January, from 6:30-8pm.
